Catalysts and additives including plasticizers and antioxidants must comply with food‑safety regulations, ensuring substance‑migration levels into food stay below safety limits under designated service conditions. To extend food shelf‑life, food‑grade PET may further improve barrier performance against oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor via copolymerization or composite‑coating technologies.
Main Applications
It is most commonly manufactured into beverage bottles, edible‑oil bottles, condiment containers and mineral‑water bottles. With upgraded barrier performance, modified PET can be processed into beer bottles as glass‑bottle substitutes to prolong beer shelf‑life. It is also widely adopted for direct‑food‑contact packaging articles such as food trays, fresh‑keeping containers and pastry packages.
